Benue state is grossly under-developed with an appalling socio-economic retrogression.
Available data in open documents released by the National Bureau of Statistics shows that over the last 10 years Benue state government earned about a trillion naira with little to show for in terms of socio-economic infrastructures and over all development of the state.
The worst hit are the Local governments where the state government starve the councils of development funds that could have enable social economic transformation where most of the citizens in the state live.
Consequently, it has become increasing imperative that an #OpenBenue is the only way that can get Benue state back on track, if the state is to reverse its appalling socio-economic retrogression.
There are several examples that highlight the benefits of openness in governance and how it transform societies by enhancing transparency, building trust, driving efficient government service delivery and on the other hand enables citizen’s engagement and participation.
